Magnesium is the second most abundant element in our bodies and yet most people are deficient, you probably are too. Magnesium is responsible for regulating over 300 enzymes and reactions in our bodies and yet most of us are severely lacking in this nutrient. You might be thinking ‘Ok, I’ll just take a magnesium supplement then’ or ‘I’ll eat more magnesium-rich foods’ however it is not always that easy.
Many forms of magnesium, particular oral supplements, are difficult to absorb through the stomach and the food we eat has depleted levels of magnesium which is what leaves most of us deficient in the first place. That is why a magnesium bath with magnesium flakes is a great solution to help boost your magnesium levels as it is absorbed through the largest organ in your body, your skin.
Your skin is the first visible sign of your overall health. If you suffer from rashes, eczema, psoriasis, dry skin, acne or any other skin related issues it is often a sign of a larger issue within your body. The skin is an elimination organ which means that when your stomach, liver or kidneys, which are also elimination organs, are overworked, your body will push out toxins through your skin. Your skin also an amazing ability to absorb and deliver nutrients to the body which is why a magnesium bath should be on the top of your list when trying to rejuvenate your body. Magnesium baths are known to be great for:
- Stress relief
- Muscle aches
- Increasing insulin sensitivity
- Improving circulation
- Better nutrient absorption
- Headache relief
- Speeding up wound healing
- During illness, especially respiratory illness
- For children to help mineral absorption and improve sleep
- For acne, eczema or other skin problems
- For joint pain relief
- To help relieve poison ivy or skin reactions
- Improving skin hydration
The next time you decide to hop in a warm bath we recommend you add in some 1-2 cups of magnesium flakes (which are much more easily absorbed than the alternative Epsom salts) and soak for at least 20 minutes to reap the full health benefits at least once a week. However, for certain illnesses or skin conditions, you could consider a magnesium bath every day to help improve your condition but we recommend consulting your doctor beforehand if you have any medical conditions.
